Jhumming is the local name of the Slash and burn method used in India . This method helps in retrieving the nutrition of soil by growing the crops on the field and then burning the remains once the crop is harvested, the ash makes the soil fertile. But the method has also various disadvantages like it causes a lot of air pollution because of the emission of harmful gases like carbon monoxide . There is always a fear of the fire spreading and burning the nearby forest regions.

It uses a lot of land from the forest.
It also needs to burn the trees present in the forest so that they get fertile land.
it also pollutes air because of burning a large amount of trees.
it needs to leave the forest land fallow for many tears.
It also makes a risk of occurrence of forest fire.
