Drawbacks of coal in India:Coal mining is one of the main reaons that has lead to thousands of death each year. This has forced government to introduce various policies to lessen the increasing death rate.It has lead to displacement of people in huge numbers from their homeland due to the hallowing of earth that made the place unsafe. For example, people of West Bengal.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions is considered as one of the biggest drawbacks of coal energy. This is because at the time of mining carbon-di-oxide is released in the air that been results supressed in the dead bodies of plants and animals for million of years. This transfer of CO2 from the earth to the environment leads to Global Warming effect.
It also results in harmful emission of substances like Mercury and Sulfur Dioxide which cause health hazards among the surrounding population and Acid Rain.
