Hey there,
A group of scientist led by the Dutch scientist Christian Huygens challenged Newton's corpuscular theory of light and stated that light is wave rather than particles. Their postulates are-
⇒All space is filled with invisible substance called ether and light travels in the form of longitudnal mechanical waves.
⇒Every luminous body which is a source of light, would be at geometric centre of the propagation of wave.
⇒All points in the medium which would receive light would lie along a curves surface called wavelet.
⇒Envelope of all wavelets in the same phase is called wave front.
DRAWBACKS OF CORPUSCULAR THEORY-
⇒Newton proposed that speed of light in denser medium is greater than in rarer medium which is wrong.
⇒There is no justification that colours is due to different sizes of corpuscles.
⇒Newton's theory could not explain phenomenon like interference, diffraction and polarization.
⇒Further Einstein deduced that that light possess dual nature as being both, a wave as well as particle and Newton-Huygen debate came to rest.

Hey mate ^_^
=======
Answer:
=======
=> It could not explain partial reflection and refraction at the surface of a transparent medium.
=> It was unable to explain phenomenon such as:-
✔️Interference
✔️Diffraction
✔️Polarisation
=> It predicted that speed of light in a denser medium is more than in a rarer medium which was proved wrong by Foucault.
