heya,

There are three main draw backs for rutherford's model

1)Couldnt explain stability of atom

2)Failed to explain existence of certain lines.in hydrogen spectrum

3)does not give any information about energy and velocity of electron in the atom

say cheers

the revolution of the electron in a circular orbit is not expected to be stable .any particle in a circular orbit would undergo accerleration.during acceleration charged particles would radiate energy .thus the revolving electron would lose and finally falls into the nucleus .if this were so the atom should be highly unstable and hence matter would not exit in the form that we know .we know that atoms are quite stable .
