Rutherford pruposed that electrons revolve around the nucleus in a fixed orbit, however he did not specify the orbits and the number of electron in each orbit..

The drawbacks of Rutherford's model of an atom is:

The revolution of the electron in a circular orbit is not expected to be stable any particle in a circular orbit would undergo acceleration and during that acceleration that's charged particle would also radiate energy.

By radiation of energy that revolving electron would also lose energy and by the loss of energy that might finally fall into the nucleus.

If so is the case then an electron can't be stable and should be highly unstable, but it is known that an atom is a quite stable particle.

Rutherford put forward his model of atom why conducting a famous gold foil article in which he scattered Alpha particles and bombarded them on that gold foil.
