Constructive effects of volcanoes in favour of man
• Volcano tourism -Different types of erupting volcanoes provide extraordinary scenery so beautiful and natural that they attract tourist to the area bringing in some economic value.
• Geothermal energy- Places close to volcanic activities tend to have higher potential for geothermal energy which can be an advantage to the town and cities.
• Formation of fertile soils -Some Ash and Lava breakdown become soil that are rich in nutrients And become good areas for crop planting activities.
• Creation of new land – volcanic eruption can create new plan for human habitation. For example new Island formed in the south Pacific due to hunga Tonga volcanic eruptions.
• Provide useful material- volcanic eruption provide useful igneous rocks such as granite and basalt. They also provide precious stones.
• Geysers and Springs – formed due to volcanic activity geysers and springs are important from health point of view as it contain Sulphur and other useful minerals.

Destructive effects of volcano
• Respiratory problems : volcanic Ash goes out as minute particles. When it is inhaled can cause coughing and shortness of breath. People suffering from asthma , Bronchitis and emphysema are especially affected by it.
• Choking of lungs : course of particles from pyroclastic flow can be lethal. When inhaled they cause death by choking the lungs and causing burns.
• Death of plants and animals: extremely hot Lava can swiftly kill plants and animals.
• Damage Eyes : fine Ash particles get in the eye and cause irritation , burning and itching.
Disastrous to mankind : volcanic eruptions are disasters causing complete destruction. Eruptions open source people living near volcano abandon their land and houses.

Thus, volcanoes have both constructive and destructive effects on humans.

The good as well as bad effects of volcanoes are -

Good Effects

1. The soil of the regions near volcano becomes fertile. Eruption of volcano produces ash and lava that are very rich in nutrients.

2. When the volcanoes are erupted, they leave behind useful igneous rocks like granite and basalt.

Bad Effects

1. Hot lava can destroy or kill both the flora and fauna of that region.

2. When the volcanic ashes are inhaled, it may cause respiratory diseases like asthma, bronchitis, etc.
