There is a certain criteria for choosing the members of a State Legislature, which constitutes qualification for both Legislative Assembly (Vidhan sabha) and Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad):

1) the person elected must be a citizen of India;

2) the elected person must subscribe to an oath before an authorized person;

3)minimum age prescribed for a member of legislative assembly is 25;

4) the elected person must have all the other qualifications as may be prescribed by the Parliament by law.
