The friction force depends on two factors:

a) The materials that are in contact. The two materials and the nature of their surfaces. ...b) The force pushing the two surfaces together. Pushing the surfaces together causes the more of the asperities to come together and increases the surface area in contact with each other.

the factors that affecting friction is the surface area is either rough or soft

visnukant: it also depend upon the surface areas having in contact because the larger surface area in contact then the larger friction forces applied
