A stable government helps the country have plans and projects which can be executed and carried forward till completion. Instability and frequent government changes hampers long term projects beneficial for development of the country.

A sensible and healthy opposition in the parliament helps infuse new ideas in the government. Unnecessary disruption and opposition only get in the way of administration.

Similarly, religious and political harmony among the population helps a country progress.
