Doab features

Doab is a piece of land lying between two converging rivers, like that at the converging point of Ganga and Yamuna, two most important rivers of India.

This term ‘doab’ is popular only in India and Pakistan and the word means ‘tongue’.

The doabs are low-lying lands between the rivers, which are immensely fertile due to the depositions brought by the river waters, thus are ideal for farming.

The doabs also get continuous water for irrigation, making these lands more suitable agricultural plots.
