Physical Features:
Homo erectus was about the same height as today’s humans. Brain size is put at 850cc, height up to 6 feet and weight was comparable to modern humans. Their teeth and jaws were shaped like humans these days. But their brains were half the size smaller and their teeth were bigger than us. Their hands were big. They walked upright (that is why it is called the upright man). The skin of the erectus would have had more hair cover than in the humans. Also, their skin were very dark.

These are the main features:
• Homo erectus had a brain size approaching that of modern humans. Averaging around 900cc, this brain actually reached the lower limit of modern human brain size (1400-1450cc).
• Erectus was also the first human species to have a wide, fleshy nose. The face was flat and the skull had prominent ridges over the brow.
• Homo erectus was the first ancestor to approximate modern humans in size. In fact, except for the brow ridges and smaller brain, Homo erectus was perhaps the first species that we might consider to be essentially human.
• Homo erectus ate meat, used fire and refined tools. He stood erect (about 5ft).
