Well, I guess there would be a lot less disagreements between members, but I overall think that there would be a significant threat to democracy, due to the fact that you would, depending on the type of single party system, either:

a) Be unable to vote for any other party, or:

b) Be able to vote for other parties, but it would be impossible for them to win a majority in parliament.

Don’t forget that in post WW1 Germany, a single party system was a stepping stone to the Third Reich.
