in modern democracies power can be shared at different levels and power sharing arrangements can take many forms. of the most common of them are given below.

horizontal division power sharing

  • in a democracy power is shared among different organs of government is called horizontal division of power sharing
  • the legislature normally is called Parliament enact the law executive implement them and the Judiciary ensure their proper implementation and punishes the guilty
  • these three organs work in Unison with complete record this may be called as horizontal distribution of power because it allows different organs of government placed at the same level to exercise different powers
  • the power of the three organs are well defined fetch a clear-cut division and separation ensure that none of the organs can exercise unlimited power is organ keep a check on the other this resulted in a balance of power among various institution
  • the entire arrangement between the three organs of government is also called system of checks and balances

vertical division of power sharing
