Sclera - protects and contains the internal parts

Cornea - refracts incident light

Aqueous humour - prevents the collapse of the eye due to atmospheric pressure changes

Iris - adjusts the size of pupil

Crystalline lens - focus the image of the retina

Ciliary muscle - alters focal length of crystalline lens

Retina - receives optical image

Vitreous humour - maintains the shape of eye

Optic nerve - carries electrical impulses to brain

The sclera, or white part of the eye, protects the eyeball. The pupil, or black dot at the centre of the eye, is an opening through which light can enter the eye. The iris, or coloured part of the eye, surrounds the pupil. It controls how much light enters the eye by changing the size of the pupil.
