Great question!
Just like veins and arteries in humans, veins in plants function to transport liquids in a plant. There are two general types of liquid transpotation in plants. Xylem transport water. And phloem transport sugars. For example, when a leaf is photosynthesizing or making sugar, sugar is transported through phloem “veins” to other areas of the plant that might need it, like a developing fruit or growing branch.
Hope it was helpful!!!
