- Bring a burning match stick near the mouth of the test tube
- Also pass the gas through lime water Ca(OH)2.
- Take a wet blue litmus and red litmus paper and bring it into the contact of HCL gas.
Observations:
- When the matchstick is brought near the test tube , we can hear a pop sound. This indicates it is Hydrogen gas.
- On passing the gas through the lime water, the lime water becomes milky. This shows the presence of Co2
- The wet blue litmus remains blue , whereas the red turns into blue. This indicates that HCL gas in Basic.
