They also refused the company`s right to mint coins and cease extension from fortifications.

The Bengal Nawabs charged the Company of dishonesty and accused them of depriving the Bengal government of great revenue loss. They also accuse the Company of not respecting and recognizing the authority of the Nawabs.

The Company on the other hand had their own sets of grievance against the Nawabs. They considered that the demands laid down by the Nawabs were improper and the Company`s trade could only flourish if duties were removed. They even wanted to continue their plans of building forts and  its fortification .
