In response to the growing demand for better measures to analyze the trends of globalization, the OECD took the initiative to prepare a conceptual and methodological framework for collecting quantitative information and construction indicators.
This work has shown the current booklet on Economic Globalization Indicators. This is the result of cooperation between OECD secretariat, member countries and experts from international organizations.
In order to improve the understanding of the effects of globalization, quantitative work is needed in at least three areas: its intensity and intensity, its economic impact and ultimately relationship with structural adjustment policies. The handbook only covers the first area, for which a group of indicators is proposed, originally as the ratio obtained from the original data, which is to measure the intensity and intensity of the globalization process in its various dimensions
Although, the scope of the handbook is limited to measuring the magnitude of the globalization process, but there is a large number of potential areas in the work involved. Issues of globalization are given priority: international trade, foreign direct investment, activity of multinational companies and the production of technology and international exposure.
