What are the limitation of contact process for the manufacture of sulphuric acid?

The only limitation of Contact Process to produce sulphuric acid is that, since it requires catalysts which are expensive and pure raw materials, the process is expensive.

The current industrial requirements call for high-grade and high-concentration sulphuric acid and the method used for production of sulphuric acid is called the Contact Process. The Contact Process uses Vanadium oxide (V2O5) as catalyst, which does not react with impurities in the sulphur feedstock. The by-products of the resultant reaction are sulphur trioxide and oleum.
