IT WAS APPLICABLE UPTO CALCIUM
PROPERTIES OF NEW DISCOVERED ELEMENTS DID NOT FIT INTO THE LAW OF OCTAVE.
TO FIT ELEMENT INTO HIS TABLE, NEWLANDS PUT EVEN TWO ELEMENTS TOGETHER IN ONE SLOT AND THAT TOO IN THE COLUMN OF UNLIKE ELEMENTS HAVING VERY DIFFERENT PROPERTIES

1)it was found that the law of octaves was only applicable up-to calcium.

2) it was assumed by newland that only 56. elements existed in nature and no more would be discovered later but after that several new elements were discovered whose properties didn't fit into the law of octaves

3)in order to fit elements into his table newland adjusted two elements in the Same slot but also put some unlike elements under the same note.

Thus newlands law of octaves worked well with lighter elements
