The limitations of the nervous system are:-

1. The messages can only be transmitted through the nerve cells. Therefore, a lot of the cells are not connected.

2. A cell cannot continuously create and transmit electrical impulses. After transmitting a message, the cell has to rewire its configuration before sending another message.

These limitations are overcome with the help of chemical means of transportation (hormones).

The limitations of nervous system that is basically the electrical impulses are-

1) They reach only those cells connected to the nervous tissue.

2) Once an electrical impulse is generated and transmitted, the cell takes some time to reset its mechanisms before it can generate and transmit a new impulse.

Cells cannot continuously generate impulses, that’s why multicellular organisms use other means of communication called CHEMICAL COMMUNICATION.
