Repetition of the letter ‘L’  in the words ‘lie listening’.


Transferred epithet: transferred epithets refers to the figure of speech in which adjective or an epithet qualifies a noun other than the thing or person.

‘Melancholy darkness’ as the sadness of a person in dark is transferred to the ‘darkness.’


Personification: Personification is the figure of which attribute a human quality to an abstract figure. In other words, personification refers to attributing human characteristics to anything non-human.

In the fourth line ‘shedding tears’ is personified as the ‘rains’.
