1) Pulses are a Rabi as well as Kharif crop.

2) They are high in protein.

3) Tur, urad, moong, daal etc are examples of pulses.

4) They do not need much moisture, and survive in dry conditions as well.

5) They are leguminous crops. They help in restoring the fertility of the soil by fixing nitrogen in the air.

6) India is the largest producer as well as consumer of pulses.

7) Grown in Maharashtra, AP etc.

The characteristics of pulses in our country are :

1) Pulses are grown in our country mostly on the riverine areas and in "chars"

2) Pulses contain a good amount of protein .

3) Pulse cultivation is done mostly in the North part of India such as in Ganga valley and Brahmaputra valley .

4) Indian people eat pulses along with rice as a ingredient to mix rice while eating .

5) Pulses contains vitamins and nutrients that is good for our health .
