1. Subsistence agruculture.
2. Pressure of population on agriculture.
3. Importance of animals.
4. Dependent upon Monsoon.
5. Variety of crops.
6. Predominance of food crops.

The features of commercial agriculture are as follows:
1. The main characteristics of commercial farming is the use of high doses of modern inputs ,like high yielding varieties of seeds ,chemical fertilizers,insecticides and pesticides in order to obtain higher productivity.
2. The degree of commercialisation of agriculture varies from one region to another e.g. rice is a commercial crop of Punjab and Haryana but in Orissa it is a subsistence crop.
3. Plantation is also type of commercial farming where a single crop grown on a large area.
4. In India tea,coffee ,rubber,sugarcane,banana are important plantation crop.
