What are the major reasons for the growth and spread of terrorism?

Terrorist groups are established when people start to believe they can achieve political aims through the use of violence against a state or against a civilian population.
I'm not sure that there are any more terrorist groups today than there were in the last 5 decades or so. Certainly the PLO and the IRA aren't the major threats that they once were.
I think what you are noticing is that the news media leaps upon the word terrorist because they know it is an attention grabbing buzzword - especially since the 9/11 attacks in the US. Terrorism in various forms has been a reality in many parts of the world long before the twin towers were destroyed. It's just you didn't hear about it so much.

I have heard people saying that Terorism is a fight for freedom. From what? From injustice! So terrorism is a justice?
