Ocean currents are streams that have vertical and horizontal components and are generated by the force of gravity, water density and wind friction. It varies in different parts of the ocean.
There are majorly two types of ocean currents:
1) wind-driven circulation
2) thermohaline circulation.
Circulation driven by wind is caused by the force and pressure of the wind which induces momentum exchange.
The thermohaline circulation is caused by variation in water density in the oceans.
