1. plastics are poor conductors of heat which makes them suitable for making handles of cooking vessels.
2. plastics are poor conductors of electricity .so they are used in electrical appliances

the merits are that is easy to produce and it is byproduct of petroleum refienery it is strong and durable and easy to give shape. the biggest demirt are that it is biodigradable which means it does not decay or it is no proper wayto dispose plastic other than recycling
