An English scientist called John Newlands put forward his law of octaves in 1864. He arranged all the elements known at the time into a table in order of relative atomic mass. When he did this, he found that each element was similar to the element eight places further on.

❇️ Limitations of Newland's octaves❇️
#️⃣1️⃣ It was applicable to the classification of elements up to calcium only.✔️✅
#️⃣2️⃣ He assumed that only 56 elements existed in nature and no more elements would be discovered in the future. However several new elements were discovered whose properties did not fit into his law of octaves.
#️⃣3️⃣ In order to fit elements into his table, He put even two elements together in one slot and that too in the column of unlike elements having very different properties.✔️✅
