The objectives of R. A. 1425

  • Teaching about Rizal's life is intended to increase students' sense of nationalism, patriotism, national identity, love of humanity, respect for human rights, and awareness of the significance of national heroes in the history of their country. This Memorandum should be sent widely and immediately to all parties involved.
  • All public and private schools, colleges, and universities must include in their curricula courses or subjects on the life, works, and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal, particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, according to Republic Act 1425, also known as the Rizal Law.
  • All schools, colleges, and universities must maintain a sufficient number of copies of the original, unedited versions of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, as well as Rizal's other works and biography, in their libraries.
  • Because of Jose Rizal's significant contribution to the country's liberation, Republic Act 1425 was passed on June 12, 1956. Senator Claro M. Recto served as its primary proponent. It is sometimes referred to as the Rizal Act.
  • As a Filipino, Rizal exemplified the best virtues. He fought and prevailed despite the most trying circumstances, incited the Katipunaneros to rise up, and aided in the establishment of the first sovereign Republic of Asia. Rizal's only guiding principle was to combat social injustice.
