there are three organs of government

  1. legislature (responsible to make laws eg parliament)
  2. executive (implement the laws eg. government)
  3. judiciary (refers to the court system)

the members of legislative assembly are elected by the common people. a state is divided into many small constituencies .many members from these constituencies stand in the election and people living in these constituencies elect their representatives and these elected representatives are called members of legislative assembly (MLA) .
