She had not taken good care of her teeth; she ate lots of candies, toffees, sticky food, lollies, etc. She did not brush her teeth regularly and properly. All this neglect led to many tooth-decay problems. She had to go to the dentist for fillings and painful dental treatment.

This perils here refers to caries in her molars. As in early childhood she didn't took care of her teeth. She ate many lollies , Toffies which now cause severe tooth decay.
