Periodic Classification of Elements

Discovery of more and more elements leads to Chaos and this arises a need for their proper arrangement in some order.

Scientist made many attempts to classify the elements based upon their properties .

Dobereiner's Triads

In 1817, Dobreiner, a German chemist made an extensive study on the properties of various elements and arrange the elements with their similar properties.

Each group consisted of three elements and last known as Triads.

The Elements in each triad were arranged accordingly increasing atomic masses.

The Atomic mass of middle element in the triad was found to be the average of the atomic mass of the first and third element.

Dobreiner could identified only three Triad from the element known at that time.

He failed to arrange all then known elements in the form of triads.
