govt of India has laid down National Ambient Air Quality standards (NAASK) for twelve air pollutants, namely, PM10,PM2.5, Carbon monoxide, Sulphur dioxide, Nitrogen dioxide,Ammonia, ground level Ozone, lead ,Arsenic, Nickel, Benzene and Benzo a) Pyrene. The relevant standard are annexed. The NAASQ helps in assessment of air quality with respect too various pollutants and development of preventive and. corrective measures mitigation. Compliance Compliance with NAASQ can lead to significant abatement of air pollution in country . Further, the government has notified 115 emission/effluent standards for various pollutants. Compliance to notified environment standards is likely to protect and improve quality of environment.
