Sher Shah was a great ruler and administrator of medieval India. He divided empire into 47 divisions which was known as Sarkar and again he subdivided it into smaller units called as Parganas. He introduced four central department named as Finance department, Military department, Royal Secretariat and department of religion and foreign affairs.

He first introduced a silver coin called as Rupia and also introduced copper coins. He also introduced a communication system such as postal services. He also constructed four routes of roads called as grand truck road, road from Agara to Multan, Multan to Lahore and road from Madhu to Agra. Source of income was transportation taxes and Land revenue.
