Psychological effects and applications of auxin are follows-

1. Apical Dominance- In most of the higher plant apical bud inhibit the growth of the lateral bud this phenomenon is known as apical dominance.

• Removal of shoot tips usually result in the growth of the lateral bud. It is widely applied in tea plantation and hedge making.

2. Root Initiation- Auxin help to initiate rooting in the stem cutting.

• It is promoted by indole butyric acid and naphthalene.

3. Herbicides- Auxin is also used as herbicides.

• 2,4-D is widely used to kill dicot weeds and it does not effect mature monocot plants.

• It is used to prepare weed free lawn.

4. Flowing- Auxin promotes flowering in pineapple and leechi plant.
