The District and Session Judge can award any punishment under law including capital punishment and at the same time the session Judge is appellate court for magistrates.It is an intermediate court between high court and court of Magistrates.while the magistrates of section thirty are empowered to award punishment up to seven years but they have are more authorized than the magistrates of 1st 2nd and 3rd classes
