what are the precautions taken while reading a clinical and laboratory thermometer

Here are some.

The main is thermometer should be held perpendicular to the water/liquid surface.

It should not be tilted against any wall or be hold in wrong procedure.

It should be noted that it has a limit of measuring temperature.So while measuring first set the limit correctly,more temperature can brust the mercury and can cause harm.

Precautions Taken While Reading a Thermometer

  • Thermometer should be washed before and after use, preferably with an antiseptic solution.

  • Ensure that before use the mercury level is below 350C.

  • Handle the thermometer with care.

  • Dont hold the thermometer by the bulb while reading it.
