Nicola and Jacopo were two young boys working hard to pay for their sister's medical treatment. They used to run small errands for the narrator and his companion for some money. They had suffered much due to the war in past I which their father had been killed. Their house was destroyed in the same war and were left with no home and no food.
Afterwards whe they discovered that their sister is suffering for spinal tuberculosis, worked hard for her treatment facing many troubles at this young age of 13 and 12 respectively
