Struggle to survive-

1) The population of france rose from 23 million to 28 million frm 1715- 1789

2) this led to the rapid increase in food demand

3) but the production could not keep up pace with the demand so the price of bread which was a staple diet for majority rose rapidly

4) most workers were employed as labourers in workshops whose owner fixed their wages but i does not keep pace with rise in prices

5) so the gap between poor amd rich widened and situation became worse ..

this led ro Subsistence crisis
