Properties of anode rays are following

★ anode rays travel along straight paths and Hence They cast Shadow of object placed in there path.

★ they rotate a light paddle wheel placed in their path. This shows that anode rays are made up of mineral particles

★ they are deflected towards the negative plate of an electric field. this shows that these rays are positively charged

★ for different gases used in the discharge tube the charge to mass ratio of positive particle continuing the positive rays is different.

1) The anode rays travel in straight line and cast shadow.

2) The anode rays are deflected by the magnetic and electric field and bent in the opposite direction of cathode rays.

3) The anode rays can also rotate the wheel placed in their path and also have heating effect.

4) The charge to mass ratio (e/m) for positive rays depends upon the nature of the gas taken in the tube and it is less than e/m of electron

            e/m = 9.579 × 10⁷ C kg⁻¹
