1)always greater than zero
2)it can be a natural number or in decimal expansion
3)it can be of three types of decimal expansion
1st terminating
2nd non terminating but repeating
3rd non terminating non repeating
4)Q=(D-R)/d
where Q = quotient
D = dividend
R = remainder
d = divisor
