Factors responsible for the growing importance of tertiary sector in India :

1 ) Basic services - In a developing countries, basic services such as post, hospitals, schools, courts, transports, police stations, etc. are required.

2) Employment - Tertiary sector helps in generation of employment for the citizens of a country. It provides a constant source of income to people. About 10% to 15% of population is employed in this sector.

3) Economy - The share of tertiary sector in the national GDP has increased from 50% to 60% in the year 2003.
