Reasons for the formation of regional political parties in India was as a result that.

- They have risen because of the fact that  national parties failed to address local issues. Hence this lead to the formation of many regional parties which were believed to address the issues of concern to the locals.

The existing system of Governance was shaped by the three  major events that ultimately lead to the emergence of regional parties.

1) Demise of Jawaharlal Nehru – Under Nehru, the Congress  leadership never deviated from the Gandhian values and the  Congress party as a whole acted with great restraint before  taking any major decisions that would affect the unity of people.

2) Emergence proclamation

3) Formation of Janata Party Government.
