In general, the base part of the name reflects the number of carbons in what you have assigned to be the parent chain.

see its simple

  1. in the general formula remove the last e and put in the  name of the functional group
  2. name it based on the number of carbon atoms in it
  3. and finally alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons
