a. Communalism means that people of the same religion have common cultural, economic, political and social interests. Thus religion based communities form the as the primary unit of a society. According to communal ideology, people of different religions have divergent interests and this can prove to be antagonistic. This often leads to communal tensions. Communalism, thus, is a severe threat of the harmony and secular spirit of a country as it generally takes the form of riots and violence. We may give example Hindus and Muslims constitute different religious community with different interests. Such was a belief which resulted in the partition of the country.
b. Casteism , regards caste as the basis of society, and believes people belonging to one caste form one community whose interest are different from those of another caste. Like communalism, casteism also believes that interests of one caste is mutually different from those of another castes. We may give example of how lower caste argued for reservation to rectify the historical wrong and the discrimination they were subjected to whereas the upper caste were against this policy of reservation as it goes against the principle of merit.
c. Both these ideologies from time to time have impacted politics and have emerged as major vote bank issues to be exploited by political parties.
d. Both Casteism and communalism have been the basis of conflict in our society , we may give example of anti reservation stir that took place at the time of mandal commission which was related to caste, then communal rights like Godhra related to religion..

Communalism refers a government or system where communes act as independent states. The nation that the states form is a federation of those states. Castechism refers as a summary of instructions through a series of questions and answers, prepared in book form, containing instruction on the religious doctrine of a Christian church.
