1.they all have 7 electrons in their valence shell.
2. the halogens are nonmetals.
3.the halogens are reactive nonmetals.
4.as halogens readily accept an electron,they act as oxidising agents . fluorine is strongest common
5.they readily accept one electron forming unipositive anions such as F-,Cl-, etc., thus acquiring the nearest nobal gas configuration.
