Whenever you do an experiment you will probably need to take a measurement or two, like temperature, length, time, or whatever else is relevant to that experiment. So when you make a measurement you’re unlikely to get it absolutely spot on. Even if you are only a billionth of a degree out from the correct temperature you are still out. Depending on the experiment, this may not matter. But basically, and to answer your question, the causes of experimental error are the inability to measure anything with total accuracy.
