◾Marshes paddy fields contribute large amount of Hydrocarbons such as Methane to the air.

◾Methane is released into the air in large quantities by the anaerobic decomposition of organic matter in soil water etc.

⚫Harmful effects of hydrocarbon are

◾At high concentrations they have carcinogenic effect on lungs and cause cancer.

◾Due to photochemical reaction with oxygen and oxides of Nitrogen, they damage on human beings as well as plants and animals.
