ANSWER
James Reeves, in his poem 'Statue' expresses the awe of the speaker when he see a statue in the market place built on a high square base.He doesn't know how old the statue is , nor he knows what were the good things done by that man long ago. To him his aquare face seems Solemn and said and inscription at the square base in some foreign tongue illegible. The strong wind has no effect on his clothes and he sits there with one hand on his knee and other pointing at the speaker. The speaker is so afraid that he can neither stay nor go and wonders what the stone gentleman has to say to him.
hope it helps ✔️
