1. Special surveillance and security foreces were created to control and order society in ways that the the Nazis wanted.
2. Apart from the already existing regular police in green uniform and the SA or the Storm Troopers, these included the Gestapo (secret state police), the SS (protection squads), criminal police and the Security Service (SD).
Its Importance:-
1. It was the extra constitutional powers of these newly organised forces that gave the Nazi state the reputation as the most dreaded criminal state.
2. People could now be detained in Gestapo torture chambers, rounded up and sent to consentration camps, deported at will or aressted without any legal procedures.
3. The police forces acquired powers to rule with impunity.
